Boots-to-Roots | B2R Mission #004
Share
It is our honor to introduce Blake Nelson, a 30-year firefighter with the Tuscaloosa, Alabama Fire Department, Station #04, and his wife Misty Nelson, as the fourth recipients of our Boots-to-Roots (B2R) Program.
After three decades of service protecting his community, Blake is stepping into a new mission—growing American elderberry to support natural wellness and help others stay ahead of illness.
Through the Boots-to-Roots Program, Blake and Misty are beginning their journey into elderberry farming with a clear purpose: to create safe, trustworthy, and effective products for everyday health.
In his words:
"We want to raise American Elderberry so we can help create safe, natural medicine for people. We take Elderberry ourselves on a regular basis as support for our immune systems."
For Blake, this isn’t just about farming—it’s about continuing a life of service in a new way. From the firehouse to the field, the mission remains the same: protect and support others.
This is exactly why we built the Boots-to-Roots Program—supporting those who have served as they transition into building something of their own, rooted in purpose and long-term impact.
