Elderberry products refund policy

We’re committed to delivering the highest quality elderberry products to our customers. If there is a problem with your order we will work to make it right.

Satisfaction Guarantee

If you are unsatisfied with your product, you may return unopened products only, within 7 days of receiving them.  We will send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package.  We will refund orders within 30 days of receiving them to the original payment method.  To start a refund, please email us with your order number and a description of the problem along with any photos to support your request. 

While we do not accept returns on opened or consumed products, we’ll work with you to ensure your experience meets expectations.


How to Request a Return, Refund or Exchange
Damaged or Defective Items:  Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

If your package arrives damaged, request the delivery driver annotate the damage in their system. Please contact us immediately with your tracking number, order number and photo of the damage at info@veteranberries.com. If damage is concealed (not seen until package is opened), please contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the issue. We’ll send a replacement or issue a refund.

To start a return, contact us at info@veteranberries.com for a return authorization. If your return is accepted, we will provide instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return authorization will not be accepted.

Refunds typically take 5–7 business days to process back to your original payment method.

 

Exceptions / non-returnable items
For safety and quality reasons, we cannot accept returns of opened elderberry products. Thank you for understanding. We cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

 

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

 

Nursery Plants and Cuttings Replacement Policy

At Veteran Berries, we want every customer to succeed in growing American elderberries. While we gladly offer one-time replacements, proper planting and maintenance are essential to ensure healthy growth. We provide clear instructions via email after purchase and on our website to help guide your success.

If your shipment arrives damaged or compromised, please notify us immediately by emailing info@veteranberries.com. Beyond shipping issues, please review our category-specific replacement policies below:

 

Elderberry Cuttings Replacement Policy

To qualify for a one-time replacement of elderberry cuttings, the following conditions must be met:

Cuttings were:

  • Planted before the first week in March
  • Planted directly in the soil outdoors
  • Kept consistently moist

 

Growth Expectation:
You should begin to see some sprouting within 4 months of planting.

Request Timeline:
If no growth appears after 4 months, submit your request before October 1st of the same year. Requests submitted after this may be processed for the next planting season.

 

Bare Root Plant Replacement Policy

We offer a one-time replacement of bare root plants if:

  • They fail to produce any growth by late spring
  • They were properly watered during the initial growing season

Request Timeline:
Submit your request between June and August. Requests after August may be deferred to the next planting season.

 

Rooted Cuttings & Small Plants Replacement Policy

We offer a one-time replacement of rooted cuttings or small plants if:

  • They were kept consistently watered
  • You observe no signs of growth by Fall

Note:

If planted in the summer, it is natural for early leaves to die back temporarily. Continue watering and monitor for new signs of life.

Request Timeline:
Submit your request between November and March. Submissions after March may be processed for the next season.

 

General Notes:

  • Replacements are seasonal and based on availability. While we’ll always strive to match your original order, exact variety matches cannot be guaranteed.
  • All replacements are provided once per item and do not cover future planting seasons.
  • Proof of purchase and planting photos is requested.
